Kung Fu Journey:
Why I Train? It’s part of my life. I enjoy training – hitting, getting hit and the challenge it brings. It’s challenging physically and mentally and helps me in all aspects of my life.
What do you think of the style you train? There is nothing else like it. It’s dynamic and technical which makes it a lot of fun. Even after many years, there are times that I’m left with my mind blown at the depth of the art.
How do you perceive it to other style? Each has its place and will be a good fit for certain people. I believe our style was created from a unique place and grew out of real practicality based on traditional moves. Not all other styles have kept the real fighting aspect.
Would you recommend the style anyone and why? I wouldn’t recommend the style to anyone. To continue the kung fu journey you must be able to trust, have patience, self-discipline, and the ability to deal with setbacks. It is well worth the journey but it is long and can be hard, so does not suit everyone.
Philosophy:
What is your Kung Fu Philosophy? Most of my kung fu philosophy has been influenced by my Sifu – be calm, adapt, train hard, listen and watch closely, and don’t bring excuses to training. And most of all, enjoy it.
What is your Life Philosophy? To succeed you need to work hard, but constantly look for new opportunities and take advantage of them. Take risks, be open to change and try new things. Be inclusive, respect others, and share your happiness and passion.
What do you think of your Sifu ? The only way to describe Sifu is one in a million and there will probably never be another like him. His dedication to the art is second to none. Sifu has a unique way of creating, understanding and teaching the art of fighting and sharing his lifelong dedication with passion. When Sifu is in his element his ability to engage and capture the room is like no other.
