Kung Fu Journey:
Why I Train? Kung Fu and martial arts has given my life a structure in addition to family, friends and work. It has equipped me with the tools to protect myself and loved ones, and a deeper understanding of myself and my relationships. It is a source of personal growth as the hardships overcome through training help have helped to build an inner confidence to draw on during challenging times.
What do you think of the style you train? The core of the art is devastating hitting, which though the levels is further developed and deceptively hidden within the soft controlling movements. I think the art has great applicability and has been tried and tested over many years. The art is alive and changing to remain effective in an ever-changing landscape of martial arts.
How do you perceive it to other style? Many other styles focus on mastery of shape and form. While these styles produce extremely fast and impressive movements, they often lack power when tested under pressure. In our style shape is only the beginning and effective generation of power is the focus from day one.
Would you recommend the style anyone and why? Yes, a striking art is one of the most effective you can use to protect yourself and our style’s focus on practical and powerful hits equips you with what you need
Philosophy:
What is your Life Philosophy? Disciple is the precondition to freedom.
What do you think of your Sifu ? Grandmaster Henry Sue is the kind of man who only comes around once every few hundred years. Many people will never meet anyone like him nor have the privilege to form a close relationship with them. He is an inspiration in both his martial arts achievements and his personal story. The hardships he has overcome through life have left an echo throughout Brisbane and Australia.
